A welcome model to provide a sense of what to expect in the course along with the importance of the exercises. There is a also a video
for this insight which is a component of the Effective Problem Solving Course
Often it seems like problems just erupt out of nowhere and catch us off guard with no advanced warning.
And our first response is often to attack the problem because we just want it to go away.
Though problems seldom just go away and we tend to feel like we're on a problem solving treadmill.
Or worse yet, for every problem we think we solved one or more new problems arise.
This course is about effective problem solving, which while not easy is doable with a better understanding of the problem, the pattern of behavior that led up to the problem being what it is, the underlying structure that created the pattern of behavior, and the stakeholders responsible for the underlying structure.
Consider it a lot like riding a bicycle. It is something you get better at by doing and it involves a lot of trial and learning. As such I encourage you do to the exercises and submit them for review and feedback.
Welcome to a learning journey. I hope you find it most meaningful and useful.
