Black: The Sun is the source of all energy, and this includes the energy that is transferred through a food web.
Purple: Plants take energy directly from the sun, and are eaten by other creatures.
Light Blue: These creatures feet the animals that will provide main nutrition to the black-footed ferret.
Green: These are animals that will be only sometimes eaten by the black-footed ferret, but do provide nutrition.
White: The prairie dog is the black-footed ferret's main prey, and makes up over 90% of its diet.
Orange: These animals will directly feed on the black-footed ferret.
Red: These animals are the apex predators of the black-footed ferret's food web. They are not eaten by any other animals.
Yellow: Humans are the only animals who might hunt the apex predators, and most likely not even for their flesh.
