MODELS are simplified representations of a REALITY, whose OBJECTIVE is to analyze or solve a very clear and defined PROBLEM.
A good example of a model is a GEOGRAPHIC MAP (physical or virtual) that shows aspects of a region and whose objective is to visualize aspects of this region.
A model does not have to show all the details and complexities of reality. A good geographic map does not show all the details of a region.
A model is all the more useful when it shows what is necessary and sufficient to achieve the objective it proposes.
The model we see here was built based on these premises. It aims to be simple and useful to show the waste collection system in a neighborhood in Porto Alegre.
Our time horizon is 48 months (4 years), which is the length of a mayor's term. The model will show the results of simulations over this period.
