Guam Invasive Snake population dynamics
This model shows the oscillating relationship between plants, Palawan Spiny Rats, and Palawan Cat Snake. As plants biomass increases, rat population grows. More rats lead to an increase in snake numbers due to more available prey. Eventually, snake predation reduces the rat population, causing a drop in snake numbers too. With fewer rats feeding on plants, the vegetation recovers, and the cycle repeats. This creates natural, repeating population cycles driven by food availability and predation.
