There are two basic modes of organizational operation, one founded on the concept of management and one founded on the concept of leadership. These two modes represent very different systemic structures.

To this point the Situation, Behavior, Model, Stakeholder and Boundary aspects of this situation have been investigated. It is now appropriate to consider the assumptions that have been made to this point and ensure we are on a solid foundation before proceeding to the Leverage and Strategy aspects are considered.

While understanding the interacting components responsible for the situation is important it is even more important to understand the stakeholders as they are the ones responsible for the interacting components being the way they are.

This is the collected data for the pattern of behavior of the Rookies & Pros example of the Systemic Perspective Development Guide. Though the development guide  no longer exists this is a good example of captured data to create a reference mode to compare a simulation to.

You pursue an intent in a manner akin to meandering around in the dark without even a candle to guide your way. Along the way though you encounter aspects related to the situation that you are endeavoring to figure out how to deal with. And when you persist to actually evolving a Systemic Perspective, only then will there be light at the end of the tunnel, and you will have a sense of which direction the tracks should be laid to effect the alternative situation you are seeking.

A System is a matter of perspective.

There exists a well defined set of possible ways to alter an existing set of interactions. Each of these alterations will produce a particular effect depending on the relations the change is relative to. Identifying which are possible and which will migrate the interactions to produce the desired situation is the essence of the strategy.

This model introduces the S/O and +/- notation for depicting the relations that might exist between two elements along with why the +/- notation is preferred.
