This is a mental map of how the different activities that ORCA engages in relate. This is my first take at building an understanding for myself and is aspirational: this is part documentation of what we currently do, part wish-list. The perimeter shows our current activities. The center of the diagram shows activities we do not currently engage in (red outline), but how they can reinforce what we currently do, and how they could be leveraged to holistically promote human and environmental health.
It shows the relationships between the various departments of ORCA (bold boxes) and provides a framework to understand the mechanisms by which we aim to improve environmental and human health and justice. For simplicity, not ALL of the relationships are shown: for instance, there would obviously be connections between education and a theoretical applied ecology center (volunteer hub, nursery, shell-bagging, outdoor classroom, fabrication of prototypes, space for outdoor experiments, etc.) Likewise with monitoring.
